Rhett Blankenship is a five-time Emmy Award-winning motion graphics and VFX artist with 19 years of experience—and a creative director whose innovative approach transforms complex ideas into compelling visual narratives. Rhett first honed his skills at A Smith Productions, where he designed and developed show packages for acclaimed series like American Ninja Warrior and Top Chef. As the creative director for the Emmy Award-winning ESPN program Sport Science, he led the design and implementation of graphics for over 1,000 episodes, setting a high standard for visual storytelling.

 

He further expanded his creative repertoire at Monumental Sports, crafting seasonal visuals for the Washington Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics. There, he developed dynamic animations for synchronized arena displays and social media, implementing scalable design processes that consistently elevated brand presentations.

 

As co-founder of The Flannel, Rhett has managed an in-house team to deliver end-to-end show kits for TV, video podcasts, and streaming services for top brands like Netflix, Apple, YouTube Originals, Underdog, and Homes.com. His work includes designing virtual sets using Unreal Engine and producing unique sports entertainment content that bridges the gap between live events and digital engagement.

 

In his freelance career, Rhett has tackled a diverse range of projects—from seamlessly integrating subtle brand elements in Netflix’s Nailed It to designing comprehensive brand kits and trade show animations that earned CES Best in Show for Weber Grills.
