Fernando Fonseca

Tabletop |Motion-Control | Food & Beverage

About Fernando:

Fernando likes beautiful things. As a director, that's the mood, and that’s the job.

His work isn't solemn and doesn't pretend to be poetic. It's delicious, and it will make you thirsty.

Fernando found his home in the most technically demanding corner of commercial directing: tabletop, high-speed, macro, and motion control. Together with DoP collaborator Mario Gomez, he makes up CITRVS, a tabletop duo built around a shared obsession for the point where industrial engineering and image-making meet. Liquids, food, and products moving beautifully at the edges of physics.

He came up through post-production in the early 2000s, working alongside colorists and VFX artists on features and advertising until the set pulled him in for good. Part artist, part nerd, equally fluent in both.

His product work has been part of campaigns for Flor de Caña, Cervecería Costa Rica, Dos Pinos, Twinings, and Campero. Often brought in specifically for the shots that demand the most. The goal is always the same: make you fall in love with whatever is in the frame. The beer, the chocolate bar, or the cookies the kids are fighting over at school, you will fight for them too.

Fernando is also developing Great Art Will Be Destroyed (Ciudades Vacías), a feature film recognized at the Málaga International Film Festival, the Ibermedia Development Fund, the Costa Rica International Film Festival, and the Central American Film Market. The narrative work is coming.
