About Alexandra:
Alexandra Chando is a director, producer, and Emmy-nominated actor with over 20 years of experience in television and film. She began her career as an actor, notably playing identical twins Sutton and Emma on ABC Family’s The Lying Game, where her interest in directing first took root. After the series, she shadowed directors on network shows such as ABC’s Mistresses and Fox/Marvel’s The Gifted, accumulating over 400 hours on set while continuing to act in pilots for NBC, The CW, FOX, and recurring roles on series like Amazon’s Sneaky Pete.
In 2017, Chando created, directed, and produced The Dinner Party, an unscripted, female-driven pilot spotlighting diverse voices through meaningful conversations. She went on to direct a music video and her first short film, LPM, Likes Per Minute, which screened at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts and other national festivals.
She later directed and executive produced the independent pilot NSFW, collaborating with Executive Producer Eric Amadio (Snowfall) and DP Cameron Duncan (Preacher, Longmire, Tulsa King). In 2021, she directed two additional short films that made festival rounds.
Chando’s feature directorial debut, The 8th Day—a female-led heist set in 1994 West Texas starring Phoebe Tonkin, Darren Mann, Mustafa Speaks, Valerie Mahaffey—premiered in March 2025 and is now available on demand. It marked her third collaboration with Duncan as director of photography. She is a 2022 alum of the Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Program.
